Thoughts On Action Comics #23: Marvel-ous

So today was new comic book day, and I admit I almost didn't pick up Action Comics #23, after last month's abysmal offering. Having read the issue, I will say it is MUCH better that #22. It's not great, but it is a definite step up from last month. The main thing that stood out though? Action Comics thinks it's a Marvel book. Using the magic of words and pictures let's see why, shall we?

1. THE BIG BAD GUY

Marvel Comics have a gigantic cosmic being called Galactus, dubbed 'The Devourer Of Worlds':

And in Action Comics #22, we get the also-gigantic 'Lexus', apparently also known as 'The Devourer of life throughout the universe':

2. THE SPACE-TEAM GUYS

Marvel have the Guardians Of The Galaxy:

And Action Comics gives us the Pax Galactica:

Note: Pax is Latin for 'peace', so we can assume the Pax Galactica are some sort of galactic peacekeeping force. That's also why the Guardians Of The Galaxy were formed.

3. THE GREEN HOTTIE

And you see that green warrior chick in that last pic? Her name is Lourdes. And she bears a striking resemblance to Marvel's green warrior chick, Gamora, who also happens to be a member of - you guessed it - the Guardians Of The Galaxy:

Come on now DC. If you're going to rip off another publisher's characters, don't make it so obvious! Guardians Of The Galaxy is one of the most popular books currently on release. You're making yourself look daft!
