When Marvel NOW! launched, I was still reading Captain America. I was never really one for collecting variant covers, but I'm a sucker for retro-styling in comics, so when I saw the Hastings variant to Captain America #1, I fell in love and had to have it. I ended up paying about £15 on eBay, and It's never been out of the bag since it arrived in the mail.
Then, just a few minutes ago, I saw this online:
Holy crap! He's doing a variant for Guardians Of The Galaxy #5! And it's wonderful! And I must have it also! I will even pay crazy money. This man's artwork is honestly so good he makes me want to cry.
While I'm on the subject of variants, I was late in picking up last weeks comics, so my local shop had no copies of Justice League #22 left. They had one issue left of the 'combo pack', which includes a code to download a digital copy of the book, but it was actually slightly cheaper for me to buy a variant cover instead?? I'm happy with a variant, but DC should just do what Marvel do, and give you that download code at no extra cost.
