Arc Reactor! Trinity War details!

Arc Reactor! is a new regular post where I plan to write my thoughts on smaller events and arcs that span six issues or less. Anyone who has read this blog before probably knows that the bigger crossovers are covered in my 'The Big Event' feature, but those only come around once in a while, so the idea of Arc Reactor! is to hopefully keep me posting a little more regularly, especially about Marvel titles, as my blog is a little DC-heavy. And speaking of DC...

More details have surfaced about the upcoming Trinity War crossover, incorporating issues of Justice League, Justice League of America, and Justice League Dark. I have been critical of DC in recent months for its massive long-winded crossovers that required me to buy a whole bunch of books that I don't normally read, so I am really happy that they are keeping the size of this one down to only 6 issues. I have been reading Marvel's 10-issue Age Of Ultron and every week I wonder why DC can't put together an awesome event that wraps up in just a few weeks. Maybe this will be a start, but I'm sure they'll still manage to break my bank with 'aftermath' issues or somesuch.

I am a big fan of Geoff Johns, and although I haven't really gotten into Justice League Dark so far, I am always happy to read Jeff Lemire's books, so the two are bound to come up with something awesome here. I am not overly familiar with most of the characters in JL Dark, but crossovers like this are always a great way to dip your toe into unknown waters, and I'll jump on any excuse to see more of Frankenstein, who is tipped to be a major player in Trinity War, along with Superman, Batman, and Green Arrow.

So come August, I hope this event will have lived up to it's potential. Johns and Lemire are two of DC's best writers, but doing a major event with such a large cast of characters in such a small number of issues is bound to be a challenge. Regardless of that, this looks like it could be very, very interesting.

Does anyone know if New 52 Superman still has his weakness to magic? Just speculating, but I can see that coming into play here!
