Green Arrow is one of my favourite characters. Always has been.
I wasn't one of the haters who kicked up a stink when DC rebooted the DCU with the New 52. I had no need to. But for me, Oliver Queen has been pretty poorly written since the reboot. The issues I have been picking up have been...strange. Especially on Ann Nocenti's run on the book. For the most part it seems the stories have just been weird non events. But hopefully that is all about to change.
Jeff Lemire takes over the title on issue #17, and this will definitely be a new monthly buy for me as a result. I recently started with his Animal Man title (wow!), and I'm planning on catching up with his Justice League Dark run. The guy just knows how to write.
CBR have posted an interview with Lemire in in the lead-up to Green Arrow #17. I found it interesting that he didn't like the New 52 Green Arrow, but he still had to take the first 16 issues into account when starting his run. He also mentions he hasn't watched the recent Arrow TV show. In my
opinion, that's a good thing. I really can't see why everyone loves that
show so much. Stephen Amell drags that show down so badly.
Have a read anyway, I think if you like comic books, you'll like Jeff Lemire.
