2013: What I'm Looking Forward To.

My last post was about Jeff Lemire, and how I'm looking forward to his upcoming run on Green Arrow. But there are a bunch of things I'm excited about in 2013, so I thought I'd give a little rundown:

Scott Snyder and Jim Lee's new Superman title!
Scott Snyder is hands down my favourite writer at the moment. After finishing his Batman/Court Of Owls storyline, I started buying every title he's working on (as well as Batman: The Black Mirror from a while back). I just can't get enough of this guy, and it seems nobody else can either. It sucks that his American Vampire series is on hiatus AND he's leaving Swamp Thing. Since the New 52 started, I've enjoyed Grant Morrison's Superman in Action Comics, and I honestly haven't even read Scott Lobdell's Superman title (although reviews have been pretty mixed), but I do love Superman, I love Snyder, and I love Jim Lee's artwork. Whatever this book turns out to be, I'm sure it won't fail to live up to the hype.

Jonathan Hickman's Avengers!
Hickman is also writing New Avengers as part of the Marvel NOW! relaunch but, purely to keep costs down, I'm only buying his main Avengers title. We're only 2 issues in, and Good Lord! This book is good. He's building quite the team so far with big hitters like Hulk, Cap, Iron Man, Wolverine, Spidey, Captain Marvel, and loads of others. I can't wait to see where this title goes. Buy this book!

Movies!
Where to begin??? This year will bring us Iron Man 3, Man Of Steel, The Wolverine, Thor: The Dark World, RED 2, and probably others that have slipped my mind because there are so many. Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim also looks great.

Videogames
Well we have LEGO Marvel Superheroes, DC's Injustice: Gods Among Us, and a Deadpool game due in the coming months. There may even be more, but I need to get more up to speed on what's due out in 2013.

And finally, Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN!
Honestly, I never even read Sandman until last year when my girlfriend picked up some of the trade paperbacks. She'd read a lot of the title back when it was first on the stands, but when I read them I was pretty amazed. So this year Vertigo and Gaiman are working on a prequel series and we're both pretty excited!
