Shedding Weight.

Holy crap!

I just did a count of the books I've been buying over the last 3 months and it tallies up to 27 comics a month. It's only 7 books a week, but that actually works out at around £100 a month on comics!

It's not something I really mind, but the only reason that number is so high is because of  DC's ridiculous amount of crossovers. Between Death of the Family, Rise of the Third Army, Throne of Atlantis, and Rotworld, I added 12 bloody books a month to my reading list, some of which turned out to be just not worth it.

But good things are coming. In the next few weeks I finally get to shave a large bunch of titles from the DC list. Batgirl, Teen Titans and Nightwing are all getting ditched, as are Green Lantern Corps, New Guardians, and Red Lanterns. In their place? Jeff Lemire's Green Arrow. I'm pretty confident it will more than fill the void. I. cannot. wait. for. this. book!

Over in the Marvel camp, Captain America is out on his ass. 3 books into Marvel NOW! and I've already lost interest, so in his place I'll be bringing in the new Guardians of the Galaxy, and the awesome-by-all-accounts Hawkeye.

That still leaves me with 23 books on the pull list (if my count is correct), but once Grant Morrison finishes up his run on Action Comics, and Scott Snyder leaves Swamp Thing, those titles will also be going. The main aim is to get down to 3 or 4 books a week. It'll be tough, but if I'm gonna get to NY Comic Con in October, I have to save some pennies!
