First Contact...

Hello! I've been planning a blog for a while now, but I've only just got around to finally getting it done. I'm no journalist, and am fairly new to the blogging thing, so hopefully I won't be laughed off!

The plan here is simply to share my thoughts on a bunch of stuff, mainly comic-book related, but I'll also comment on comic and sci-fi related TV and movie news too. Expect news, a few reviews, and the occasional rant. I'll share links to some stuff I find interesting, and I'll welcome any comments or input people may have.

A bit about me:

I'm a 31 year old Scotsman. I grew up on an small Scottish island, and I first started reading comics when I was about 13. I picked up an issue of Detective Comics in the local newsagent (part of the KnightQuest arc) and was hooked. The problem was that I didn't have a local comic book store, or any regular income at that age, so although I wanted to, it was hard to make comics a regular habit. I was only able to regularly get hold of a couple of titles like Batman, X-Men and 2000AD. When I was 14 I moved to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, and BANG! Forbidden Planet and independent comic shops! A paper round coupled with weekly pocket money! It was ON!

A few years later I sold my collection to pay some bills, and spent about 10 years not reading comics. I just fell out of the habit. About 2 years ago I was in a bookshop, and on a whim I picked up Batman: The Long Halloween, and I was immediately hooked again. Over the last 2 years I've been buying up all the books I used to have (the ones I remember anyway), and trying to catch up on some of the stuff I've missed (it seems I missed a lot of good stuff).

DC's New 52 provided a good opportunity to jump back on the wagon, and although I was always mainly a DC/Batman reader, I've dipped a toe into the Marvel Universe too, and I'm glad I have!

So there you go. I think about comics constantly so I'll probably blog a lot :) Hope you enjoy!
